OSU goes tobacco free today

Submitted by aravind on Tue, 07/01/2008 - 08:56

Oklahoma State University (OSU) Stillwater campus goes tobacco free from today. Based on the recommendation initiated by the OSU student government association (SGA) the university adopted this policy. For more information visit Tobacco Stops Here website.

Deaths due to tobaccos is the number one cause for preventable deaths in the US next only to diseases due to obesity. It is a great and important step by OSU administration to go forward with the SGA recommendation. Next step for OSU would be to look towards preventing and educating students about obesity.

UltraMetabolism

Submitted by aravind on Wed, 07/25/2007 - 20:24

I am currently reading a book called UltraMetabolism by Mark Hayman. It is an interesting book which talks about how the food communicates with our body and sends signals to our brain to increase or decrease the metabolism. The author emphasis that the kind of carbs, fats and proteins that we eat are important rather than the quantity and the caloric value of those foods.
